Trial Font Licence Terms
Version 1.1 — May 2026
These terms govern the use of Ritmo Type trial fonts. They are intentionally brief. Where these terms are silent, the Ritmo Type End User Licence Agreement (EULA), available at ritmotype.com, applies and governs.
By downloading or using Ritmo Type trial fonts, you accept these terms and the applicable provisions of the EULA.
About Ritmo Type
Ritmo Type is an independent type foundry based in Torino, Italy, born from the collaboration between Archivio Tipografico and Il Letterista. Ritmo works with the byproducts, findings, and tools of two distinct typographic practices, amplifying and sequencing them into digital fonts rooted in tradition and precision, fit for contemporary typesetting.
1. Definitions
Font Software. The trial font files provided by Ritmo Type, in any format supplied.
Licensee. The person or entity that has requested and downloaded the trial fonts.
Beta Phase. The period during which Ritmo Type makes trial fonts available for evaluation, prior to full commercial launch. The Beta Phase concludes at a date determined by Ritmo Type.
Main EULA. The Ritmo Type End User Licence Agreement, available at ritmotype.com, which governs all matters not addressed in these trial terms.
2. Trial Licence Grant
Subject to these terms, Ritmo Type grants the Licensee a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Font Software solely for:
- Personal evaluation of the typeface on the Licensee's own devices;
- Internal design exploration and unpublished mockups;
- Presenting design directions and pitching concepts to clients, provided the Font Software is not embedded in any distributed file and the work is not published, distributed, or otherwise made publicly available.
No other use is permitted.
3. What the Trial Licence Does Not Permit
The trial licence does not permit:
- Use in any published, distributed, or publicly accessible work, including websites, social media, print publications, and exhibitions;
- Use in any commercial production or client deliverable;
- Embedding the Font Software in any file or application that is shared with, distributed to, or accessible by third parties;
- Use on behalf of or for the benefit of any client organisation without that client holding a valid commercial licence;
- Any use permitted only under the Desktop, Web, Social Media, Special Use, or Third-Party Extension licences described in the Main EULA.
All prohibitions set out in Section 4 of the Main EULA (including modification, redistribution, AI/ML training, and letterform-object use) apply in full to trial fonts.
4. Beta Status
All Ritmo Type trial fonts are beta releases. They may contain technical imperfections, spacing inconsistencies, or incomplete features. All typefaces are actively being expanded, refined, and completed.
That said, Ritmo Type trial fonts ship with full or near-full character sets. We believe a typeface should be evaluated properly, without artificial limitations.
The warranty disclaimer in Section 10 of the Main EULA applies in full to trial fonts.
5. Term and Termination
This trial licence is valid for the duration of the Beta Phase. It terminates automatically when the Beta Phase concludes, or earlier if the Licensee obtains a commercial licence for the relevant typeface.
Ritmo Type may revoke this trial licence at any time, with or without cause, by written notice to the Licensee.
On termination for any reason, the Licensee must permanently delete all copies of the Font Software from all devices under the Licensee's control, including backups, and confirm such deletion in writing upon request.
6. Going Commercial
When you are ready to use a Ritmo Type typeface in production, write to us at studio@ritmotype.com. Licences are priced by the size of your organisation, so a freelance designer and a large company pay very differently. We will put together a quote based on your situation.
Obtaining a commercial licence immediately supersedes these trial terms for the licensed typeface.
7. Applicable Terms
All matters not expressly addressed in these trial terms are governed by the Ritmo Type End User Licence Agreement, available at ritmotype.com. This includes intellectual property ownership (Section 9), warranty and liability (Section 10), governing law and jurisdiction (Section 11), and all prohibited acts (Section 4).
In the event of any conflict between these trial terms and the Main EULA, these trial terms prevail to the extent of the conflict.
8. Updates and Interpretation
These terms may be updated, amended, or replaced by Ritmo Type at any time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The most current version of these terms is always available at ritmotype.com/trial-eula. The version published on the website at the time of use shall supersede any previous versions provided with the Font Software.
For any matters that remain ambiguous, unclear, or where these terms are silent, the provisions of the Main EULA, available at ritmotype.com/eula, shall serve as the definitive authority for interpretation. In accordance with Section 7, while these trial terms prevail in the event of a direct conflict, the Main EULA provides the underlying legal framework for the relationship between Ritmo Type and the Licensee.
